MAISON KIEU, Our authentic homestay in Tam Coc

This homestay is truly outstanding for two reasons: it is located very quiet in a maze of narrow streets in the middle of the Van Lam village, commonly called Tam Coc, and the fact that one of the two structures is a very old house similar to those of the famous ancient village of Duong Lam (Mong Phu). Tam Coc is famous as the "capital" of the Halong Bay Land with its limestone peaks rising from the rice fields for the great variety of attractions to visit (boat trips on rivers, temples and pagodas, Hang Mua peak, the ancient capital Hoa Lu, Phat Diem Cathedral, etc.), and for the locals activities, rice cultivation and especially embroideries whose village is a great center in Vietnam. The village is located on the edge of the Red River Delta and the mountains of northwest Vietnam, 8 km from the Ninh Binh Town in south of Hanoi (3 hours by train, two hours and half by the new highway).

The house consists of two small buildings overlooking a large courtyard filled by bonsai. Left, a very old structure unique to Tam Coc, with old entrance doors, beams and pillars in wood, all similar to the old pagodas of the region; this is the living room, with a small adjoining room and exterior bathroom. At the bottom of the courtyard, a small stone building houses a large bedroom with another exterior bathroom.

Some comments from customers

If we could give 6 stars to this house, we would. She is so charming, rustic but comfortable. The great room, which is in a small building separated, overlooking the large courtyard and bonsais, where we have all our meals with our hosts. The food was good and plentiful. The soul of the house is Nian; how generous and caring woman! The location is perfect to visit all there is to see. Highly recommended!

The best stay! Our hosts were generous and welcoming on arrival. They prepared us a great dinner, better than anything we have elsewhere in Tam Coc. We really regretted leaving. We loved and could not recommend more the guest house of Kieu all those who wish to stay in Tam Coc.

OMG! We can not describe how our stay was extraordinary. A big change of life and we are so grateful to Huang and his wife for us have shown combines the life can be relaxing and beautiful. We have such a beautiful souvenir of our evenings in front of the fireplace; the special dinner that we were served, and lovely and charming people who shared their time with us. WE LOVE YOU AND WANT TO COME BACK !!!
